Backhoe + fiber = oops!

Yesterday we lost connectivity to our admin building - one of the maintenance guys with a backhoe putting in an irrigation system caught the underground fiber going into the building. Ooops! We lost phone and internet to the building, and the rest of the schools lost email (their server is in our building). So yesterday was a scramble to move the servers to another campus for the web and email. Today the fiber is spliced together again and everything is working again.... so in another day we will scramble back all the servers. At least the students are not here - they finished up last week.

It is amazing how many things here rely on an always on full time connection, though. Time to get back to work!
